  1. I don't know if you are talking about drilled rimless, or grooved rimless frames, but they both will look nice with lower prescription lenses.  They are not a good idea for those with higher prescriptions, even with the thinner and lighter lenses.

As the other girl posted, you'd want to get polycarbonate lenses because they are impact resistant and they do not chip and crack the way plastic can; especially in the drilled rimless styles.  Plastice lenses can crack very easily at the mounting where the temples are drilled through the lens.

Completely drilled rimless styles are more delicate than a regular full frame so they are not a good idea for someone who routinely falls asleep in their glasses and wakes up with them underneath them.  They do require that the wearer be a little bit more careful with them.  The mountings can also come loose and then the whole frame is wobbly.

Anti-reflective coatings are also a good idea for the drilled rimless frames (or any pair of glasses really for that matter) because most people who are getting them are looking for the frames to disappear on their face and its hard to do that when you can't see the frame, but you DO see all kinds of glare.  The anti-reflective coatings will help the glasses disappear on you by eliminating the reflection on the lenses.

In most cases you dopay more for them because most are made of a titanium material which is very light weight and durable.  They also may raise the price a little to compensate for the fact that they need to be drilled and assembled and they take a little more time and care to make.  Some places might just tag on a "drill charge" instead of raising the frame price.

    Hope this helps!

  2. It's based on style. I prefer the rim job!

  3. Thick lenses do not look very good with rimless glasses.  Make sure you get the polycarbonate type lenses and, if you have thick lenses, make sure you have the edges rolled and polished.  I think pricing is similar to rimmed glasses.  Do some price shopping at Wal-Mart or any place that dispenses glasses.
