Ringling Brothers abuses asian elephants?

I am supposed to go to the circus on Friday. I used to love the circus, but now, i am not so sure. I read that they abuse their animals, and I was literally crying when I watched these videos. Do they still? My dad said it would be very hard to do in todays world. If they do abuse them, why hasnt anybody done anything to stop them?? Please answer truthfully. DO they?

having animals in a circus is illegal

well it is here in the UK

it should be in all countries

yes they do abuse their animals

they do not give their animals proper enclosures where they can exhibit their natural behaviours

they arent praised for their good behaviour but punished if they do something wrong

animals can be stressed from living in these conditions and suffer mental problems such as pacing, and self harming such as banging into the sides of their cages or chewing off own limbs

i do not agree with circuses

if your going to the circus to watch the animals then you are supporting animal cruelty

Do you discipline your dog when he gets command wrong? If so, do you scold him or pop his hiney?

When you are teaching a horse to jump, do you pop his hind-quarters or just tell him "jump?"

An elephant is much larger and less human-oriented. I would assume you MUST apply more strict discipline with them.

Is that right? Should we be training wild animals? That is not your question. You ask if we are abusing them. Elephants step up and defend themselves all the time and get scared like anyone and sometimes trample the one training them or near them. Is any of it cruel? Likely not. If we are willing to risk the danger, then lets not hold it against them for acting "animalistic."

We can control a lot of things in the world. We can not control things bigger than ourselves without reinforcement or reward. The elephant would completely strike out and kill us if they were unhappy.

They are getting all their food and water... if they were so intimidated, do you think they wouldn't just run off? They HAVE the ability.

If you read/watch the news people abuse each other..and do all sorts of crimes..but you still go out into the world. As far as does Ringling abuse these animals...sorry do not know. Just remember that there are lots of folks out there doing things..but it doesn't mean everyone is..go to the circus..see for yourself.
