  1. that is some what true.. they dont have the homing skills to return when they are released in the wild. but when they are just in your house they usually fly back within an hour or so..especially if they have a mate in the cage... plus they are very tame and they are easy to get back in the cage. i let mine sit on y closet door while i read and he automatically flies there when i release him our let go of him.. they usually stay or fly back to the cage when bored.. but they wont usually try to escape.. they may frantically fly at first, but this is not because they are trying to escape.. do not chase them.. if you dont chase them, they will land in a few seconds and you can easily grab them.

I don't think that is true.  I've heard that you can train ringneck doves to an extent, like coos and following you around.  I haven't tried any tricks with my pair of ringneck doves, but I know it's possible that they can be trained somewhat.  I've seen an expert on ringneck doves train them before.  It'll be tricky,  but good luck!
