what is the suggested bar spacing for their aviary?

what is grit made of,and can u make ur own?

  1. There are usually two types of "grit" you can purchase.  The first being a very fine sand-like grit, the second, a grit that is comprised of crushed oyster shell and mineralized stones.

    The difference is the sand is insoluble (it doesn't dissolve over time and can *sometimes* cause crop impaction), whereas the mineralized versions and crushed oyster shell are soluble, and provide a great source of calcium as well as some grinding benefit.

    I wouldn't recommend making your own simply because of micro-organisms and other sanitary concerns.

    In terms of bar spacing - ringnecks are large; most bar spacing isn't more than 1-1.5 inches so you should be fine.

    You can have any wire size with doves as long as the spaces aren't bigger than the birds you will be ok.
