I have a Rinnai 556F "EnergySaver" unit in my apartment. The problem is the internal thermostat, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of for a heater that must be installed on an outside wall. The short version of what's happening is, if the temperature is 32 degrees or less outside, the Rinnai, when kept on the 60 degree setting, never turns off. The end result of that is my apartment is 75 degrees and I'm burning through over 125 gallons of propane a month at a cost of over $400 for a small apartment. If it's over 32 degrees outside the unit barely works at all. If I look in the back of the unit, is there a way I can see the thermostat? Can it be moved to a wall above the unit or can I install a seperate thermostat altogether?? Thanks for any help!
