The former England national team captain had a tough time this summer as he was left out of Roy Hodgson’s squad for the European Championships but the Manchester United defender has not lost hope and is determined to prove
himself by playing regularly for the Red Devils...
Roy Hodgson left Rio Ferdinand out of his EURO 2012 squad as far as the England national team were concerned but the former West Ham defender has not lost hope and has admitted that he has not considered calling time on his international
career. It was whilst playing for England that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 rose to prominence in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and his star has only risen since then in the English Premier League.
With Manchester United, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team centre back has won the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League title on multiple occasions but his latest injury troubles have threatened to end his contribution to
the England national team. Ferdinand suffered a knee injury before the 2010 FIFA World Cup and after Capello’s departure; Roy Hodgson has not looked on the Manchester United defender in favourable terms.
Taking the team in a different and a much more youthful direction, Hodgson has preferred the likes of Cahill and Lescott over Ferdinand so far. However this has not pushed Ferdinand towards international retirement as he is still
focused on playing for Manchester United and proving himself.
Rio said, “My answer's the same as last season. Manchester United is at the forefront of my mind. It's my club and this is what I love doing. If anything else comes of it, so be it. But I don't think about anything else except
for playing for Manchester United and hopefully winning back the league."
He added, "It has been well documented I had injuries over the last few seasons. Last season, thanks to the physios and sports science team at United, I felt I managed my back really well. They helped me through.”
Ferdinand’s international career certainly seems to be nearing an end as Hodgson has indeed iterated time and again his focus on youth and considering that he is building a team to compete for the FIFA World Cup title in 2014,
Ferdinand might not fit into his plans after all.
