Despite Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Sunderland at the stadium of light, Manchester City won the Premier League in dramatic fashion against Queens Park Rangers by scoring two late goals against Mark Hughes’ men....
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 has come out and admitted that Manchester United were denied their 20th league triumph in cruel circumstances via two late goals at the Etihad stadium as Manchester City won the league trophy for the first
time in over 44 years. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini’s men needed to win against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend as they were level on points with the Red Devils but led the table on superior goal difference.
Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 were fighting against the drop to stay in the Premier League for another season and they shocked everyone when they took the lead against City at the start of the match and then went into the lead again in the
second half after going down to ten men. QPR had a 2-1 advantage over the Citizens but two late goals by City denied them all three points as the five minutes of extra time was enough for Manchester City to win the match and thus win their first league title
in almost half a century.
Rio said, “It’s a cruel way to have lost the league. But you have to congratulate the other team. Any team that wins the league deserves it, and they’ve played well during the season. It’s about dusting ourselves down and making
sure that we win the title back next season. I got the word in the game that City had scored and made it two each. Then our game finished and it went flat into silence, with everyone just waiting.”
He added, “Then the cheers from the home supporters let us know that City had scored and the title had gone to them. It’s disappointing. This year we’ve had to use our squad to the maximum, and that bodes well for the future. That’s
one positive we can take from this. I don’t think any other team could have coped the way we have. But that’s no excuse. Congratulations to the other team. When you win the league you deserve it.”
