Rio Ferdinand has come out and defended himself against criticism after Manchester United’s draw against Liverpool at Anfield. The former Leeds United defender did well against Liverpool but he was at fault for giving away the
free kick which led towards Liverpool’s only goal of the match.
Sir Alex Ferguson included Ferdinand in his starting line up after leaving him out of United’s last league encounter against Norwich City at home. Ferdinand was also left out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s squad for England’s last EURO 2012
qualification match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montenegro-c2959. His omission from the English national team squad has prompted many pundits and fans to right him off as a finished force but Ferdinand is adamant that he has some fight left in him.
The Manchester United centre back spoke to the media recently and said, "I have had people writing me off many times in my career. I just go out and play. I am confident in my own ability. Whatever anyone writes doesn't bother
me whether it is good or bad. I wasn't in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 squad so I just have to shrug my shoulders and get on with it. I am not one to sit around and moan and mope."
After playing the full 90 minutes against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Ferdinand might be rested for United’s next match which takes place on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions’ League group stages. Ferdinand added to his remarks by saying, "People are
talking about it as though I must be getting bored after 10 years. But the motivation of playing for Manchester United never goes. The feeling you remember is winning. If you could bottle that feeling when you sit down on the pitch or in the dressing room,
after you have just been given a trophy, you would be a billionaire. You want it all the time.”
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 will be hoping that Ferdinand retains his fitness for the rest of the season as United have some tough fixtures coming up later on in the month of October. The Premier League champions play their next league encounter
against Manchester City at Old Trafford.
