Rio versus Sao Paulo: what's the difference?

I mean, in terms of: weather, things to do, ethnic mix, safety, cost of living. It is possible I could move to Brazil. Thank you.

  1. Rio is more about tourism and São Paulo is a business city. Rio is heater, we go to beach, Brazilians are all mixed just Brazilians from the south are not very mixed. Rio and São Paulo are dangeous, however in Rio rich people from south zone and poor people from favelas live very near and assaults take place frequently. The cost of living... São Paulo about houses I think is more expensive and about technology is cheaper.

  3. sao paulo is like the new york and rio is like miami one is party more and one is business but you do have alot more asians in sao paulo

I live in Rio and used to live in São Paulo for 7 years.  Both cites are very large and can be a little dangerous, however I have never had any trouble and have lived in Rio for 15 yeas with my wife and 4 children.  Rio is much nicer in every aspect especially traffic which is unbearable in SP.  You will find most of the amenities you have in the US in either city.  I hope this helps.
