Risen Star Stakes 2008?

Question

Did anyone watch the Risen Star Stakes today? It was run at tghe New Orleans Fair Grounds, and it was awesome!!!!! Alot of people haven't given Pyro's late kick any credit, but he owned today. From dead last to first in a quarter mile is amazing! He's now an official Derby contender. Thoughts?

I saw the race. Pyro sure was impressive flying down the stretch. With up to 20 horses entered in the Derby, it's really hard to say how any of them will do until the post positions are drawn.

I did not see the race, but saw the stats. The main question will be, how will he run at a longer distance, with not such a tight field from gate, to wire.  Street sense did it by going on the inside, and it look like there was some steering by the jockey to get there.

Pyro will have a diffiucult time trying to win the derby from the outside, unless he is able to match the pace, sitting 3rd to 5th, two wide, and no one comming from behind until a 1/4 of the way into the home stretch.  :)
