Rising Lizette Salas proves her worth, determined to move ahead
Lizette Salas is a rising golfer, with the ability to give a tough time to her rivals. Coming into prominence after qualifying for the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), as she won the All-American title four times.
Salas started playing golf at an early age and proved her worth on the course. Although she has not been able to be the best rookie so far, she has shown that she is resilient and knows how to move ahead.
Salas represented Azusa (Calif.) High at a school level golf and stunned her fans with her amazing style.
She recorded good finishes during her school golf. The 2006 season was the best in her junior career. She was stunning at AJGA, as she graced the event 8 times.
Recording 3 runner-up finishes proved her strength.  Forging ahead with consistency and hard work, Salas soon bolstered her position in the rankings.
She achieved the 14th spot in the AJGA Polo Golf Rankings — a ranking system used at a junior level golf.
Salas’ enthusiasm for golf is evident from the fact that she travelled extensively, participating in the LPGA Future Tour events.
The breakthrough in her career came late last year, when she was received her tour card by performing well at LPGA Q-school event. Her game was stunning, as she did what she had planned to do.
She kicked off the tournament in an impressive style and played calculated strokes on most of the holes.
Although she faltered on some holes in the early rounds, she managed to bounce back, firing amazing scores.
Her birdying the last hole in the nine-player playoff amazed the spectators on the course.
Speaking of her success at the LPGA qualifying tournament, Salas said that she gave the credit of her triumph to her parents, who gave her immense mental support.
She said that she did not expect to display such an impressive performance, but “Good things like this don’t happen to girls like me where I come from”.
She continued, “There aren’t many opportunities for girls, or if there are, they aren’t taking advantage of them”.
“There’s a different path here, one that often includes drugs, gangs and teen pregnancies. I was always sure I didn’t want to fall under those statistics for young Latinas,” Salas further said.
