Rising Stars in bid for US Open title – Part Two: Milos Raonic

Rated at number 28 in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Rankings, Milos Raonic is the highest ranked Canadian professional tennis player and one of the brightest rising star in the world of tennis.
20-year-old Canadian is the highest ever ranked male tennis player from his country and has made a decent name in the tennis arena in a very short span of time. Raonic is admired by a number of tennis critics for his flawless technique
and aggressive strategies. He is most notable for his precise and fiery serve in the game, something he uses as his primary weapon in his matches.
Raonic stepped into the professional tennis arena in 2008 and has bagged just one ATP championship title to his name. He qualified for his first Grand Slam campaign in 2010, at the US Open, but got ejected in his opening round
matchup with Carsten Ball, Australia’s number three player. Raonic’s game has been improving constantly since he played his first Grand Slam tournament and the Canadian rose from world number 152 to the 37th rank in just one month in 2011.
Raonic took off the 2011 season at the Chennai Open as the world number 156 but suffered an early dismissal to remain fruitless. He then successfully qualified for the Australian Open main draws and beat all the odds to become
the first Canadian in 10 years to reach the fourth round of the Grand Slam Down Under. He defeated Bjorn Phau, Michael Llodra and Mikhail Youzhny in the opening rounds before falling to David Ferrer in the fourth round.
The Canadian sensation pocketed his first ATP title at SAP Open, defeating the top seeded, Fernando Verdasco in straight sets to get in the lime light. Raonic kept climbing the world ratings with his consistent performances but
couldn’t bag another championship title. He suffered a first round defeat at the French Open, falling to Michael Berrer of Germany in a four-setter.
Raonic’s Wimbledon campaign ended in a huge dismay to his fans, as he withdrew from the competition in the second round matchup against Gilles Muller due to hip injury. The Canadian went through a hip surgery immediately and will
stay out of action for six months. Raonic is anticipated to make a comeback in the pro tennis arena for playing at Winston-Salem Open, which will be played one week before the US Open begins.
Raonic played 39 singles matches this season and has been successful in 26 of them, suffering losses in just 13. No doubt his abilities are highly rated by many tennis lovers but will the Canadian be able to carry on his form on
his return from injury?
