I am using Risport RF4,s with Ultima Mark IV blades at the moment, decent boots but very hard to break in, would I be any better off ( skating wise ) to use Ridell Bronze Medallion boots wih a MK Club blade. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am currentley doing silver on UK Skate Star

  1. Sadly that's one of the problems with Risports: they are just really hard on the inside. You could still try to mold them in (considering you already spent the cash in them). There's a few special skate shops around the US that can help widen the inside of skates to make it easier for you to break them in. There's also special leather softener liquids that you can personally put into the boot to quicken the process and they aren't expensive either.

If you are going to just ditch your skates away, try Riedells. In my personal experience, while they are just as heavy as Risports they are far softer in the inside and thus easier to break in.

  2. i personally reccomend the reidell skates and a pair of parabolic blades. well, good luck!!!

  3. I have only heard good things about Riedells from beginners to more advanced skaters.  Around here, I think I've only even seen 3 skaters wearing Risports in the whole time I've been skating, so I haven't heard much about them.  Riedell has a usage chart for their boots and blades.  Find your skating level and match it with which boot or blade they recommend for your level.

There is a seperate chart for blades.

  4. I'd suggest trying the Riedell skates since you are struggled with breaking your Risports in. I've personally never used Risport (since they are so expensive in the US), but I personally have not had much problem breaking in skates from Riedell, and they have been excellent quality. Good luck!

  5. Have you gotten your skates heated?  I'm not sure if Risports are heat-moldable, but Ridells are.

  6. I personally use the Ridell skates and they work very well for me so I would reccomend those.
