Rite Of Passage ruled out of hurdling events for 2011 racing season
It was earlier reported that the talented racehorse, Rite Of Passage would be taking part in the hurdling campaign this racing season. However, the connections of the colt have now announced that Rite
Of Passage will not be taking part in any hurdling events this season, because they want to give him ample time to practice for the prestigious Ascot Gold Cup. The seven-year-old racehorse claimed this race in the last racing season. Rite Of Passage will therefore,
start training for the prestigious race.
The colt has many impressive performances to his credit list. He managed to clinch victories in two of the hurdle events in which he participated in the last racing season. After these two first place finishes, he then finished
the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle in third place. The last of these races was won by the racehorse Peddlers Cross, meanwhile Reve De Sivola finished as runner up. Moreover, Rite Of Passage has been revealed to be quoted at 25-1 with Stan James,
who is the sponsor for the upcoming Ladbrokes World Hurdle.
The trainer of Rite of Passage, Dermot Weld said he was confident about the development and future plans of the colt, and said that everything was going according to plan. He added that he has had many discussions with the colt’s
trainer, Dr Ronan about sending out Rite Of Passage for hurdle events this season. Weld said that they had mutually decided that the Ascot Gold Cup should be the main target this year, for which the racehorse needs extensive training sessions and thus he has
been ruled out from any hurdle events.
The performance of the racehorse in the Royal Ascot meeting which took place last June is one of his very best, in which he impressively held off Age Of Aquarius by a neck.
Some of the most awaited and flaunted horse racing events in the country will be taking place this weekend. Amongst the top meetings is the William Hill King George VI Chase. The event was previously postponed because of harsh
weather conditions in the United Kingdom, while the rescheduled race will be staged at the Kempton Racecourse this weekend. Apart from the King George meeting, the Cheltenham Festival has also caught the attention of racing fans across the country, and the
excitement will continue over the weekend.
