Riu Palace or Riu Cancun??

Question

Me and my boyfriend went on holiday to the Riu Cancun last year and had an amazing time and were just about to re-book for next year when a friend (who was a Rep in Cancun) recommended the Riu Palace (next door). It is around an extra £200 each. Has anyone stayed at the Palace and the Riu Cancun and if so which one would you recommend and why?? Links to photos would also be a bonus!

I agree with the first person. When you have the Palace, you can also go to the Riu Cancun!

In the Palace hotels you will get a bit more service, there are more restaurants you can chose from, you have more priviliges. Its a bit more luxorious. The Riu Cancun is good too, there is usually more to do. But when you go to the iu Cancun, you can't go to the Riu Palace for a day, but the other way around it is possible.

Take a look at : tripadvisor.com. Then search for your hotel and press candid traveler photos or hotel photos.

But i wouldnt trust all of the reviews if i were you, juust take a look at the pictures!

I've stayed at both.

The beach is better at the Riu Cancun.  However, staying at the Palace you have full exchange priveledges w/ the Riu Cancun.  

Riu Palace Las Americas, has better rooms (All Junior Suites), beach service, better restaurants, and better liquors at the bars.

Whether or not that is worth the extra money is up to you.

In my opinion, the food at the buffets & general overall service was the same.

I think I stayed in Playa Del Carmen. 1 hour from cancun airport. I loved it.

The Riu palace is great. The look on the outside is nice. Kind of looks like a palace too.
