  1. Hard to say from that description..perhaps a Green Heron.  Would need more info to positvely ID.

  2. Charlie, glad you asked.  I've been trying to find out also, just can't get a good photo to post. I have two on my lake, they showed up last year for the first time.

    The male has a reddish breast area similar to a hawk. Feet are webbed, they do sit in trees above the water.

    Possibly some type of kingfisher.

    That was not mine, might be Charlies
