River Fishing in Co.Cork

My parents are coming to Ireland next week I'd like to organise a fishing trip for my dad somewhere not far from Cork City. He likes river fishing (trouts, mainly) and he would be a very experienced fisher. Does anyone know of a good spot i could take him for the day? Also, do you know if you need a special permit/license and how you can get one? Thanks so much!

  1. Yeah, I'd go for Youghal too, it's about 1 hour away from Cork city heading towards Waterford..

From there you can go up the Blackwater, it's a fine river for fishing

You won't need a permit as you're just fishing for yourself you're not selling them or catching large quantities (nets..)

As far as I know you're good to go :)

  2. River blackwater in Mallow is a great spot for salmon or trout.......or the mouth of the blackwater in Youghal Co.cork
