could you please give me an example of a place where the river ecosystem is being destroyed and how?

Tall building stands,

People walk by,

But don't notice trash in the river...

The Raritan River was toxic beyond destroyed during the 70s when irrigation and raw sewage was discarded into this river.  When the clean act took place, over time, the Raritan River is almost renewed.  The Hudson River is just disgusting.  Besides pollution and wasts being put into the rivers another contributor to destruction would be acid rain or the head of the river being contaminated by volcanic activity.
