Rizla Suzuki geared up for upcoming 2011 MotoGP season – MotoGP news
Alvaro Bautista Rizla Suzuki completed the first test at Sepang February 1-3. First two day went with the fate of Bautista, but by the third day he felt ill and had to halt his practice at circuit. He concluded his test with satisfaction and experiencing
his machine for the 2011 season.
“I’m very happy because I’ve improved my best lap time from last year, so it’s a good sign for us,” said Bautista, whose 2’01.687 placed him 10th overall on the timesheet at the Malaysian circuit, scene of one his two fifth-place finishes in his debut campaign
last year.
Three-day test workload included trying out different GSV-R frames, electronics, and a range of other modifications. Bautista revealed the advantages; he expects to be fruit full when the start of the season arrives at Qatar March 20.
“I think being the only rider is positive on the whole, because Suzuki is working only for me and they are making the bike to my requests. Now it’ sacked up very hard for me but I think that when the races start it will be easier and I think I’ll have more
support,” he said.
Team Manager Paul Denning has come up with a backup plan for the unseen situations. Alvaro Bautista being a sole rider for Rizla Suzuki is near to a new turn.
The American player rode with factory Suzuki for five seasons, finishing fourth in World Championship in his last season 2007. He has also been signed for the Crescent Suzuki Team run by Denning. He will be present at the final pre-season test at Losail,
Qatar March 13-14.
“John won’t be doing the full Test in Qatar, he will be doing some riding on the bike to help us out with some PR and filming work. That will give him the opportunity to do some laps and get a feel for the bike, and he will be there at the Test in case we
need him,” Denning explained to media. “We’re not sure whether we’re going to need him during the Test or not.”
He added, “John is available, he’s got experience and he’s fit and focused, and so he would seem to be the right man to do that job.”
“There are no plans like that at the moment. Should something develop it could be considered, but at the moment it’s not in the plan,” concluded Denning.
