Rizla Suzuki manager Paul Denning upset about no decision about 2012 season – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki team manager Paul Denning is disturbed after the Motegi round as Suzuki showed no adequate interest in the 2012 MotoGP season.
The decision is still pending by the Japanese manufacturer. It is unclear whether they are interested to run the operations in the next season or pull out of the premier class.
Rizla Suzuki Team Manager, Paul Denning shared his views with Motorcyclenews.com and said, “The meetings in Japan were positive but at the end of the day there is still no firm decision. There is a sense of frustration but at the same time the fact remains
that this is Suzuki’s team and nobody else’s.”
The Suzuki MotoGP team boss further explained that the talks at the Motegi ended on a positive note but the next step in MotoGP is still undecided. The key part of the team is Suzuki, so it is important that the company makes a firm decision.
Denning further said, “Agreeing to participate is not enough. We need to be participating with a project that can move forward and keep us in the short term at least at the reasonably competitive level we are at.”
The most critical point is that Suzuki has yet not developed a 1000cc MotoGP prototype for the 2012 season. If the Japanese manufacturer agrees to run the project in 2012, they will be running the 800cc Suzuki GSV-R.
Denning had an intensive meeting with top officials of the Suzuki Company but the results are still pending. During the 2011 season Rizla Suzuki and its rider Alvaro Bautista have made significant development.
During the talks, Suzuki General Manager Yoshiji Terada along with Deputy Senior Manager Masahiko Kate were also in attendance at the Motegi.
At the end of 2010 MotoGP season, it was rumoured that Suzuki will only run single factory machine during the 2011 season and by the end of the year it will stop the operations.
Looking at the progress of the factory rider Alvaro Bautista in the 2011 season, it will be a disastrous decision to pull out of the championship. He is now consistent to challenge for the top five places. Let’s see what transpires for Suzuki in the next
season.
