Rizla Suzuki ready to participate in Qatar GP with Alvaro Bautista
Alvaro Bautista has been one of the busiest riders during the final test session held at Losail circuit, Qatar. He finished the test on a positive note. He had a run of 63 laps on the 5.380meters long desert track. Bautista finished his test at 12th place
on the time sheet, with lap time of 1:56.931 seconds.
Bautista and his team worked hard to gather some important data about GSV-R around the Losail circuit, after working on different settings to get set for the season opener race at same track. He also tested Bridgestone with new compound front and rear tires,
and also testing the compound he’ll be using in the race. One of the main concerns of the Rizla Suzuki team was to get more traction out of the GSV-R, as it has some issues running at cooler temperatures, having Losail floodlit race at late night hours when
the temperatures are low.
Unfortunately, he was called to an early end of his test session on second night, when got in the final turn and lost his front end due to hard braking, for decelerating from 250km/h speed. But the best part was when he arrived without any serious injuries
after the high-speed accident. Still he had some minor scratches and bruises not affecting his appearance in the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar.
Bautista is really eager to hit back on the desert track for the inaugural race of the season, after he and his crew worked hard in everything to make the GSV-R more compatible in all conditions.
The Grand Prix of Qatar is the only round on the MotoGP event calendar which will come alive at night hours, the sunlight will be replaced man-made lights powered by thousands of watts. The late night hours and artificial illumination will be a unique one
time experience of the year.
The test session particularly for the Sunday’s race will start on Thursday evening at about 8pm (QAT), and again on Friday evening, followed by the one hour qualifying on Saturday.
Alvaro Bautista has felt that this is the track where the season action will come alive and mark the milestone for 2011 MotoGP, “I like to ride the bike and we’ve had some good tests, but I like to fight with other riders more and be out there racing. I’m
really focused on the new season and the whole crew and Suzuki are right behind me, which is a good feeling, we now need to get out there and get into the action.”
The Qatar’s Grand Prix is also carrying a special moment celebration by completing the 300th Grand Prix. This count is after the big names such as FIM, IRTA and Dorna sports joined hands since 1992 to manage the MotoGP World Championship. Celebrations will
call up every one from the paddock.
