Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista battling to improve qualifying for Indy GP – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista is battling to improve his qualifying positions for the Indianapolis Grand Prix. It will help him to find the true potential of the Suzuki GSV-R.
The Spaniard feels if he qualifies in a good position for the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix, he will be able to stay engaged with the top riders in the race.
Bautista said, “We need to find out what the true potential of the bike is and I need to improve my qualifying performance. It is difficult to see if we can compete with the guys at the front if I am starting at the back of the grid and I have to use so
much time and energy to get up to them.”
During the last events, he has shown a challenging performance in the races. His best position of the grid has been ninth but he has consistently fought for the top six slots. The Spanish rider is seen challenging the factory and satellite Ducatis and Tech3
bikes.
While sharing his views he said that the team is looking ahead to practice some changes. If those things prove to be beneficial, the team might surprise its rivals with better performance. Still with little improvements, Bautista is able to show a better
pace.
Bautista said, “I finished eighth at Indianapolis last year and I know we can do better than that now with the package we have. I will be pushing right from the start and trying to make all the hard work we've done in recent races give us a good end result
in America.”
Bautista missed the first two rounds of the season at Qatar and Spain due to his fractured femur. He broke his leg as well during a practice session in the Qatar race weekend.
Since his comeback at the Portuguese GP, he has scored points in each race. Except for the last two rounds at Laguna Seca and Brno, he crashed out leaving the event pointless. Batista is determined to achieve good results and reveal the true strength of
his Suzuki GSV-R.
