Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista came eighth at San Marino GP – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista delivered a strong run at the San Marino GP, Misano World Circuit.
The Spanish rider worked hard to start off from eighth position on the grid but rain affected his pace.
The partial wet tarmac hindered him from putting his effort in the race to avoid any accident. At the moment, it is vital to complete the race with some points rather than score higher finishes.
Alvaro Bautista said, “Maybe this was not the result we expected after qualifying, but I didn’t have a lot of confidence on the first lap because it was raining a little bit and I didn’t feel like I could push too much – so I lost some positions and distance
from the group.”
After the race heated up, he adjusted his style but the gap from front end was too much to cover in short number of laps. However, the eighth place finish is not a bad result but the team was expecting more from San Marino.
Considering the last few races, the weekends have ended in good shape for Bautista. Still the aspect which needs improvement is the qualifying round. It is important to improve the grid position in order to get a good start in the race.
A good race start ensures better fighting position from the initial laps. He thanked his team effort which helped him with a strong battleground in the race. He also thanked the primary sponsor Rizla for the new livery for this weekend.
Bautista added that the bike was looking great and it was more likely to expect good results with a better change. He said he will be looking forward to the next Aragon event.
Rizla Suzuki Team Manager, Paul Denning said, “A couple of months ago we would have been happy with eighth place, but our performance level has increased and today we are a little disappointed with the result.”
Denning added that he if the conditions had been favourable like the QP session, Bautista would have been able to finish in better place.
