Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista confident team moving in right direction – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki team rider Alvaro Bautista is confident that his team is progressing in the right direction in the ongoing 2011 MotoGP season.
Suzuki’s Spanish rider managed his season’s best result by finishing fifth at the recently held British Grand Prix.
Alvaro Bautista said, “We will be looking to continue with the same progress we had at Silverstone when we get to Assen this week. We made big steps in England, because it was very cold all weekend and we were able to be competitive and went a long way forward
from where we were last year.”
The Spanish rider feels that his decent finish at Silverstone is going to get the team in right direction as it is a positive sign of progress. He scored his first top ten finish in 2011 at the Losail circuit, Qatar.
Bautista commented on the 2010 Netherlands GP and said, “It was cold at Assen in 2010 and we struggled, so we are hoping that what happened last week will help us if the conditions are the same – I hope it's a lot warmer though and that won't be an issue!”
He also spoke about the similarities of both the tracks. In his view, both circuits have a fast race pace and flowing corners. He and his team vow to resume the effort from where they ended at Silverstone. Recalling his victory at TT Assen in 2008, he terms
it to be a tough job to repeat. With his recent performance, Bautista is confident with his Suzuki GSVR race package to help him fight with the top runners.
His satisfaction increased when he availed Suzuki’s improved performance under cold weather at the British GP. Previously, the Suzuki lacked traction in wet and cold conditions as the tyres could not properly warm up.
Bautista thinks that now his machine has a struggling package for a near win. Suzuki’s sole rider Bautista will head to Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix with high spirits from Silverstone. Let’s see how he fares over there.
