Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista crashes after strong run in Czech Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki team rider Alvaro Bautista ended the Cardion AB Grand Prix in frustration as he crashed after performing well in the race.
Bautista fought in the race for 16 laps and in a turn, he lost the front end, sliding into the run off gravel.
Bautista said, “I have a strange feeling because I am frustrated that I didn’t finish after crashing, but I am also quite happy because I did all that was possible to stay with the front group. I was riding just a few seconds behind second position and after
starting from the back of the grid I was pleased about that.”
Bautista started the race from 14th place on the grid whereas, his teammate for Brno event, John Hopkins crashed in FP3 and held a ‘did not qualify’ status. Since missing the Qatar GP due to a femur fracture, Bautista has finished
seven events out of eleven races. At Laguna Seca and now Brno, he collected two ‘DNF’ statuses in a row.
Bautista added, “I made a good start and got past some riders in the first few corners, so before long I was behind the quick group. After that I pushed to my maximum - I was on the limit, but everything was under control - and then with six laps to go I
crashed.”
The Spaniard explained his situation in the race that he lost the front end while taking the corner. He also added that he made the same entry as he did in the last lap without any error, but this time it cost him the race.
Bautista also expressed his gratitude for the team that put the effort to provide him the best possible bike. He was also sorry for his team for the hard work they had put in. Bautista’s secondary bike was wrecked in Hopkins’ crash and the primary was done
during the race.
The rider is optimistic for the next races and aims to work hard. He is also considering improving the qualifying positions which will further help in better results.
