Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista crashes out of Grand Prix of Japan – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista crashed out of the Japanese Grand Prix held at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit on Sunday, October 2, 2011.
It was Bautista’s best fighting position ever in the race. The Spaniard masterly rode at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit but unfortunately lost his front end at a bend while he was riding at fourth position.
Alvaro Bautista said, “This was for sure not the result we expected today! I chose the softer rear tyre for the race because the conditions today were colder than yesterday and because for the first laps I needed to be as fast as possible.”
The Spanish rider started the race from the eighth position on the grid. From the start off, he was not well positioned in the race. Due to an early crash of Valentino Rossi during the second bend of first lap, he got a chance to jump up in the positions.
Bautista added, “I didn’t get a good start because some riders jump-started and I was a bit confused by them and when the red light went off I was little bit late. There was a crash on the second corner and I then found myself in a good position.”
During the start off three riders Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Simoncelli and Cal Crutchlow made a jump start which earned them a ride through penalty. All three riders went through the pit lane and this further helped Bautista to move up to fourth position.
During mid of the heat, race leader Casey Stoner went wide through a sharp right hander. Stoner’s error dropped him to seventh position and Bautista went to run for podium position at the third place.
However, Stoner later made up for his error and hunted down several riders to be seated at the third position in the race. As Stoner passed Bautista, he tried to maintain a gap from closely chasing Andrea Dovizioso. The Spaniard made a strong effort to stay
on the tail of Stoner but he could not do it for a longer period.
The Spanish rider spent the weekend working hard and proved that he has the potential to stand in the top five slots. However, the last laps made him to push to the limit which probably caused him to overshoot limits.
