Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista in top shape for Catalunya Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki team’s sole rider Alvaro Bautista feels fit for the upcoming round of the ongoing MotoGP season, Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on June 5, 2011.
He finished in 12th place at the recently held French Grand Prix with a recovering fractured left femur due to a crash he suffered early in the season.
Bautista said, “I have a good memory from last year at Barcelona and I hope to be able to make a good race there because it is a track I like very much. I have been training very hard and I'll be 100% fit when we start the weekend.”
Bautista has performed well at the Catalan circuit in his rookie MotoGP season, marking his best performance. Last season at the venue, he finished the race at fifth position but now with a recovering injury it can be difficult to gain confidence for a decent
finish.
The Spanish rider is eager to get in the racing leathers for the Catalan event. He has participated in the Portuguese and French rounds after his comeback.
Bautista was forced to miss the season opener at the Losail circuit in Qatar and the following home round at the Jerez circuit. The Spaniard got his left femur fractured during a practice session before the Qatar round and after immediately being hospitalised,
he was dropped out of the race.
He commented about the unfortunate problems his team faced and said, “We have all had a tough time so far this year and we need to forget about that and focus on the rest of the season, we still have many races to go and I'm sure we can be competitive and
start pushing nearer the front very soon.”
With all the mishaps, the Spanish rider is confident to score a place in the top ten at the Catalan Grand Prix. The team is working to improve the Suzuki GSRV race setup for a competitive pace.
Bautista also added that he is interested to race at the Montmelo circuit. The winter test sessions were also successful at the venue for the rider and he wishes to bring his season back on track.
