Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista manages seventh position at Sachsenring – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista scored a seventh position in the ninth MotoGP race, the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland held at Sachsenring.
Bautista made his move over the Ducati duo, Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi in the final corner to hold them off to eighth and ninth positions respectively.
Bautista said, “I am happy with today’s result because it was a fun race and I am quite pleased with where we finished. At the beginning I had to try and get a good start, because in the first corner you have to be very careful with other riders.”
Despite of a tenth place grid position, he was blessed with a great start in the race. He was behind the top riders and aimed to stick behind them but the gap was too big.
The clear gap from ahead dropped him initially in a fight with Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden. Later, the 16th place starter, Valentino Rossi jumped to fight in for top ten places. The trio was engaged in a close battle. All of three overtook
each other on several occasions but Bautista raced well.
As the battle grew on, the Ducati riders made it tough for the Spaniard to hold on to them. The reason was that both Ducati riders made a hard and late corner entry with late breaking technique.
Rizla Suzuki Team Manager, Paul Denning said, “I think we showed this weekend at Sachsenring - a track that has traditionally been very tough for Suzuki - that both the GSV-R and the rider have made good steps in 2011, despite the bad luck and huge injury
at the start of the season.”
Denning further stated that Bautista’s high-speed crash in the warm up lap was not an ideal situation to enter the race. He said it could have spoiled his confidence on his bike and track. However, Bautista raced hard and well throughout the race and managed
a seventh position in the end.
