Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista unclear about Suzuki plans for 2012 season – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista is still doubtful about the future plans of the Japanese manufacturer whether it will participate in 2012 or not.
The Spanish rider has shown significant improvement during the 2011 MotoGP season. Bautista has strongly challenged for top six positions in the last few races. Occasionally, he has been able to challenge some factory riders with good pace.
Bautista said, “I hope to have some news from Suzuki for next year but still nothing is clear. I hope to make a good race here in Suzuki’s home and maybe they take some motivation from this to have a good bike for next year. At the moment nothing is clear
and I have to wait to take a decision for 2012.”
The Spaniard has also announced that he has been contacted by the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team. The Tech3 squad has offered him a seat along Cal Crutchlow for the 2012 season.
On the other side, LCR Honda have also forwarded his offer to be seated as a satellite Honda rider. Earlier in the week, LCR team boss Lucio Cecchinello has also confirmed that Bautista is being considered for the 2012 season if their first priority Andrea
Dovizioso fails to seal a deal.
The present tough global financial situation and the under-stress economy of Japan has caused many Japanese automobile companies to reduce their productions and reset their financial goals.
Looking at the present situation of Japan, Honda has already reduced its budget for the MotoGP project. HRC will now only run three factory bikes on the 2012 grid.
Following the footsteps of other Japanese manufacturers, Suzuki are also doubtful to carry its team in the next season. If Rizla Suzuki decide to race in the 2012 season, they will be running with the present 800cc prototype, whereas others will be running
1000cc machines.
Currently, Bautista holds 12th position in the world championship points’ table. The Spaniard expects to get a clear answer by the Motegi round this weekend.
