Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista wants to return at Estoril – MotoGP news
Sole rider of Rizla Suzuki, Alvaro Bautista had a thorough check-up on Tuesday at Madrid, after which doctors revealed his good progress in recovery.
Bautista was told that his fractured femur is recovering very well after a check-up was done at Hospital USP San Jose de Madrid.
Dr. Angel Villamor examined Bautista, who also practiced the surgery on his fractured femur. Bautista got his fracture at Losail circuit in testing sessions before the Commercial Grand Prix of Qatar. The X-rays showed good progress in his rehabilitation
from injury. Bautista’s positive recovery reports have helped his determination to get back in racing fitness for the upcoming third round of the season, bwin Grande Premio de Portugal at Estoril circuit, May 1.
“We've been looking at the X-rays they took of me this afternoon with Dr Villamor and it appears that the bone is forming well and there's less risk of it not healing well,” Bautista stated. “That'll mean I can start exercising with a little resistance
and start to speed up the recuperation process to be as quick as possible.”
The rider has passed the first stage of his recovery just like Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda recently started his first session of physiotherapy. On this stage, Bautista is now ready to have an exercise session top regain his leg strength and sense,
as his leg got an incision during his first operation to reduce inflammation and the cut was left open for a long time, it caused him to lose plenty of blood.
The Spaniard is already taking an exercise to improve his flexibility and mobility, also having a session using hyperbaric chamber to increase oxygen flow in his body to help his recovery speed. The closing up event Grand Prix of Portugal is on May
1, which Bautista targets for his return on the racetrack.
“We still have 17 days before I need to get back on a bike. The doctor said everything is going reasonably quickly and that's my objective. I have two weeks in which to work and gain strength in the leg,” said a hopeful Bautista.
Bautista will have a proper check-up with fresh X-rays taken before he leaves Madrid for the Portuguese GP, which is the main focus of the Suzuki rider.
The chances of Bautista running at Estoril are not 100 percent yet, but his effort is to get back by the Portuguese round. The final decision will be declared by the medical team whether he is able to race or not, but with his recovery speed, it is
possible to make an appearance at the race.
Still there is a lot of hard work and exercise for him to do before he gets in proper condition to hop on the Suzuki GSV-R and race.
