Rizla Suzuki’s Alvaro Bautista suffers after cancellation of FP2 of Iveco TT Assen GP – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista suffered after the cancellation of the second free practice session of the upcoming Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix on Thursday.
The race will take place in the Netherlands circuit on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
The short practice time was not sufficient for the Spaniard to come up with a proper GSVR race package for the Assen circuit. Since the first free practice session witnessed rain, so the race day is expected to give tough time to the MotoGP riders.
Rizla Suzuki rider, Alvaro Bautista said, “In this morning’s wet conditions I had a lot of problems with rear grip and I just didn’t have the confidence in the corners to open the gas early enough. We tried another setting in the session, but I didn’t have
a good feeling with that either.”
The second session was cancelled after the Moto2 practice session. One of the Moto2 riders accidentally spilled oil on the track which called an end to the rest of the practice sessions. The track was closed and marshals spent almost two hours to clean the
circuit for the upcoming practices.
The first session was too short for the Suzuki team to change and test different settings. Bautista was lacking grip at the rear end of his bike. He was struggling to replicate the traction levels as he had at Silverstone event.
The Spaniard further commented, “This afternoon we wanted to test a completely different setting, but after what happened on the track in the Moto2 class it has made this impossible. We have a couple of sessions tomorrow and I hope that I can resolve this
problem.”
The Spaniard is desperate to sort out the traction issue and the meet the grip levels he enjoyed at Silverstone.
Due to the cancellation of the second free practice session, the second and third free practice session have been combined for a 90-minute practice session. After the long practice, riders will head into the qualifying practice for Saturday’s race.
