  1. www.bengal.com.order.htm

get the Gold not the regular

I tried multiple foggers, various sprays (including from an industrial supply store), Boric acid, roach traps/motels and even an exterminator.  Everything kept the roach population low but did not eliminate until a friend told me about Bengal.  I see you can get it online from Louisiana now.

  2. Having roaching in your apartment building has nothing to do with the woods. Unless garbage is being dumped there, you can spend weeks out in the woods and not see a single roach.  It has everything to do with your neighbor's cleaning habits and the maintenance persistence in pest control.

First you said you live in an apartment, then you mentioned the house. If you live in an apartment, it's nearly impossible to rid of roaches with tenants residing in them. The sad thing about exterminating a unit, is the roaches will run to another unit for safety.  Then when the fumes die down, they go back. If all the units in the building are exterminated at the same time, they hope to find a good place to hide.

Foggers are fine except the residue is on everything exposed. If you use it after the professional exterminator, you may want to be away from home for a few days. You can try it but the fog will not keep them from returning.

Control roaches in your unit by not leaving anything for them to breed and feed on.  Roaches like dark and damp spaces, moisture, they love brown paper bags and newspaper, and best of all crumbs and garbage.

When a neighbor has their unit exterminated get your done as soon as possible because they will run to your place.

  3. Roaches is an all too inclusive term. there are several different types of roaches, all with different control methods. Assuming you have German Roaches, which do heavily infest kitchen cabinets, etc. fogging will not help the effort. Sometimes what you do may even make it harder on the pest control provider. There are some different ways to combat this problem, and depending on who is doing the battle, the methods can look very different from company to company. I would suggest a few things:

    1) drill small holes in the kick plate under your cabinets and inject boric acid for longer lasting control. (get at local dollar store, about $2.00 per quart) you don't need much just a puff or two.

    2) Ask the pest technician to please use a growth regulator (gentrol, nylar, or other such product) when spraying. This will help to prevent the roaches from becoming mature reproducing adults, thus reducing the number of new roaches on the scene. (This will also encourage the roaches too feed on the bait to be applied in the next step)

    3) Ask the pest technician to apply maxforce hydramethelnon bait to cracks and crevices throughout the heavily infested areas. especially behind the refrigerator. (If has already has been doing this, ask to  change to maxforce select bait.)

    4) Your pest technician should already know to do these things.

    5) Are you a slob? Is your place a wreck? Make sure you are keeping a clean and not cluttered place and your technican will likely try harder to rid you of the problem. If you won't meet him/her half way, They probably won't try hard either.

    6) If you are living in an apartment complex it will be harder to accomplish the goals you are seeking. Cooperation of all attached apartments are much needed and they will need to be treated as well.

    7) Don't assume that your pest technician doesn't know what he is doing. He likely does this everyday, and he should be an expert. Thay being said, there can be big differences between companies, and some care and some don't. If he/she doesn't seem to care get rid of that company and call another.

    8) If you live in low income housing and the service is being provided by the state/ county etc. save up your money and hire your own pest technician. These contracts are almost always bid on a price only basis and you will likely not get sufficient service because the company is not making enough money to care anyway.

(9Your pest technician will do a much better job if you don't attempt to try to tell him / her how to do their job. Tell them that you have all the confidence in the world in them are counting on them to help you get rid of the problem and cooperate with what they ask you to do.
