  2. What?

  3. Having cared for colonies of roaches, I can confidently state, Roaches definitely emit odors that can be detected by the human olfactory receptors!  The more agitated the colony became due to feeding, watering and cleaning the cage, the stronger the odor.  Roaches also leave scent trails as they move around.

Roaches are very tough.  An experiment called for the dorsal surface of the roach be cut open to expose the organs of the roach.  It was chilled to immobilize it, cut open and pinned down in a dissecting tray on a Monday afternoon.  Friday afternoon of that week, the same roach tried to crawl away when the pins were removed to dispose of it!  It had been refrigerated each day after the lab classes were completed and covered with physiological saline to prevent it from drying out.
