  1. I don't know if they still make the peddle backwards to stop.  I am really into Trek bicycles after a lifetime of Cannondales.  Trek has a line of bicycles that sound like what you are looking for.  You need to get fitted for the bike you purchase.

  2. You won't find a road bike with a braking system like that in the shops. Try a "Town bike" or a "Cruiser/Comfort Bike" - They sometimes have that sort of braking system.

  3. the number is in centimeters, the length of the middle tube from the bottom bracket to the top of the tube. for your height you should look for something around 50 cm

  4. bike shop would be great and sort it all out for you.

  5. go to a bike shop, try it first so you buy the right size bike, fully assembled by a professional and ready to ride, get retailer back up if you have after sales problems, you may pay a few pounds more but its worth it.

If you buy on line you have to complete the assembly yourself, you don,t know what you are getting til it arrives and you have no one to turn to with problems, remember, your life could depend on it.
