Question:

Road Rage - is it due to fast drivers, slow drivers ahead of you or is it due to a persons home environment?

Road accidents are on the rise all over the world. Some happen due to bad road engineering, but most happen due to bad human engineering of their driving & mind-sets. However, a life lost may be a statistic for most, but for a handful, they could loose their bread-earner. The reason of asking this here is to be clear in my mind whom to blame, the individual psyche or the nearest Government Agency.

  1. As early as 1997, therapists in the United States were working to certify road rage as a medical condition. It is already an official mental disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. According to an article published by the Associated Press in June 2006, the behaviors typically associated with road rage are the result of intermittent explosive disorder. This conclusion was drawn from surveys of some 9,200 adults in the United States between 2001 and 2003 and was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

  2. will you get p**s if someone doing 70mph on the left lane, and you're trying to be nice not to tailgate for couple minutes, yet couple mins later the car in front of you still doing 70mph, and you don't have enough room to turn to the right lane because you have been driving next to a 18wheeler all these time.

actually faster drivers are safer because we actually are looking out for cars around us, espically police car.

for example the autobahn in germany has always been very safe even though it has no speed limit.

  3. Road Rage is a direct result of people who are totally out of control. Anger gets the best of them, because they have never learned how to channel that anger, beginning in their childhood. Those same people have never been taught patience either, so they don't have any. If people would allow themselves enough time to get to  where they're going, they wouldn't have to resort to "road rage" because someone in the car ahead of them "is" on time & "is" doing the speed limit.

  4. More accidents are caused by careless drivers than anyone else. These irresponsible drivers are often not watching or paying attention to their surroundings, making dumb mistakes that could easily make someone upset. Just by not signaling when making a lane change could make another driver so angry that they want to retaliate against the careless driver which can end up with someone getting hurt.

Another attitude drivers portray is recklessness. Many reckless drivers are often teenagers; they haven't had their liscense that long so they don't know how to make the right decisions when it comes to driving. When people act reckless, they feel as if they can do anything and they won't get caught. If a driver is driving dangerously, this not only endangers the reckless driver, it puts all the other drivers at risk, which could then lead to road rage.

Another attitude that drivers tend to have is temper. More than 80% of drivers are angry all or most of the time while driving. When people get angry, they lose their sense of judgement and values and let their instincts take control. This is especially bad while driving under tense situations. The tempered driver becomes upset over the littlest driving mistake made by another driver. They then react against that driver in an aggressive way, leading to a more harsh situation..................................

  5. it could technically be a mix of both or neither. road rage is really based more on the individual, people cut off my mom all the time and she NEVER does anything about it besides maybe call them stupid, i mean i get more mad and im the passenger....

but yet when i drive, i get pissed because of peoples carelessness to look around and see whats happening around them. therefore causing most of my road rage.

i am so into driving, i take my anger out by driving. not by driving aggressive or even fast, but merely driving. some people aren't like me. they will go out and get mad and then go drive, there fore causing road rage to become more present in their attitude. if someone is mad and they go drive, all it may take is one stupid person's action to set them off on some rampage.

  6. individuals are to be mainly blame for road rage....it is our responsibilty to drive carefully and to think about the other people lives walking or driving on the road....

  7. The times that we are living in.

  8. main reason is frustration. other reasons are short temper, tension, fast life, nuclear family. every body is in hurry and they cant tolerate any one .  bad roads is one of the other reason.

  9. road rage...

it could be bc there's a driver who's doing 40mph on a two-lane double yellow road when it's 55mph. and youre stuck behind them for ten miles.

it could be the anger issues inside the driver tailgating someone and riding their brakes.

it could be bc of a bad breakup a driver just had, and he's taking his emotions out on the road.

it seems to mostly point towards the individual.

  10. Accidents on roads in India is said to be the highest and road rage has become a menace these days.

So many things might have contributed to the cause.

But it is to be stopped.

  11. personally i just hate people so any excuse to go nuts on them works for me. that guy that rolls a stop sign to get in front of you and then won't accelerate or drive near the speed limit, he's an asshat. that person that races you to pass you as 2 lanes are merging and then slows down after he's narrowly cut in front of you, he's an asshat. the guy that stops in an intersection and then gets stuck there so you can't go for your green, he's an asshat. there's tons of things that people do and it's mostly because they're self absorbed, c**k gobblers that deserve what happens to them.
