Planning a road trip with my wife for 2 weeks as a late honeymoon in the summer travelling round france, to include southern France. Anyone any recomendations as to where to go/see/stay? We'd like a bit of camping, and a bit of hotel-ing.

  1. you should go to Nice and stay in a hotel, from there you can see Monaco/Cannes and Antibes, its a very nice area Nice is in the middle you could stay in Cannes but its far from Monaco. and Monaco is really expensive. have fun

  2. i second woof's recommendation carcassonne? again spelling? is a great town, i recall lots of great towns, beaches and camp sites running up the french coast from the spanish border, including argeles-sur-mer. the campsites were always of a good standard. have fun

  3. lyon

  4. Carcasonne..if that's spelt correctly, stunning place.

  5. On the way, you can stop and visit Burgundy.

  6. Gorges Du Tarn, on the way to Carcassonne, along the A 75.

Fantastic views along the Tarn River.Turn left just before the Viaduc de Millau, and follow the signs.

It was 26 degrees today, and the campsites and Hotels are of good quality, and resonably cheap.

It is around 2 hour 20 mins from Carcassonne, and the river is shallow, so a trip on the Barques, (motorised punts that are guided) to take in the superb views up the side of the Gorges or canoeing is well worth it.

We have the National Park de Cevennes, where you can see vultures, or visit the caves in Dargillan or Even Armand.

Even on a bad day the scenery is fantastic.

I should know, i live here.

    Regards Les Vignes

    ( have a good one)
