Road building in the amazon?

i need some information on road building in the Amazon. like what are the effects it has on forest conservation and livelihood development. and some pros and cons.

i disagree with clearing of the amazon to build roads. Yes it will help us, though think of what it does to the environment and ecosystems around it. The Amazon is like a massive air conditioner for the world. It cleans air and produces mass amounts of Oxygen for the world. It is also home to many thousands of unique insects and other species.

On another note if we do this when we will stop, and will it ever be enough??

I don't know about the roads in the Amazon if you look at the romantic theory about the rain forest if you cut a path in the forest the road bass would be tree roots and other debris and with the daily rains a dirt road would be washed away rapidly.I think the bigger problem is the burning and clearing of the rainforest for agriculture and ranching.We as consumers need to support the Amazon communities that are doing a sustainable business that are working with nature to support there local economies,where ever possible visit and support a fair trade store in your community.
