  1. 1.  When it first starts a light rain and the water mixs with the oil on the road.  After it has rain for awhile or in very heavy rains it washes the thin sheet of oil off the road quickly.

    2.  A very thin sheet of ice on the road usually referred to as black ice.  It is hard to detect because it looks like the road is just damp.

    3.  Bridges and overpass freeze faster than surrounding roads because they are exposed to the cold on both sides and they don't and the warming or insulting effect of the ground underneath.

    4.  Drive slowly without changing speeds or direction quickly.  If you start to slide turn your wheels into the direction of the slide and let off the gas.

    5.  If the light of an oncomming vehicle devert your eyes to the right side of the road and proceed with caution.  Do not bright light the driver because you are just making a bad stituation worse.
