  1. I always wear a helmet full face most of the time ,if  i am just running around the neighborhood  I'll wear a half-helmet.

    07 H-D Sportster

  2. I ALWAYS wear a helmet, even when it is not required.  I used to race motorcycles and survived enough crashes to appreciate their value.

For those who don't wear helmets, try this simple helmet effectiveness test

Find you self a large immovable object such as a large tree, brick wall, etc.

Stand about 30 paces away from this large immovable object.

Run towards the immovable object as fast as you can.

As you approach the large immovable object, place your hands to your side, lower your head, and continue running as fast as you can.  As a variation, hit the large immovable object face first to evaluate the effects of a full face helmet.

As you hit the large immovable object, notice how this feels.

Most people can run about 15 MPH.  This is slightly above idling in first gear on most bikes.  With this demonstration, you just felt the effects of a motorcycle crash at 15 MPH.  Imagine how this would feel at 40, 55, or 70 MPH.

Now, after you recover from your injuries, repeat the demonstration with an approved helmet.

  3. no Helmet laws in florida so most of the time i dont wear , and i do pass the 40 mph , dont care if i die on my bike at least i will have a smile on my face !

  4. Helmets are a law in Alabama and I wear either a half helmet or full face depending on where I am going. Slow in town rides or out in the country SLOW, Half. Higher speeds and lengthy rides, Full face and leather. You can be killed at any speed with OR without a brain bucket but if I survive the crash I don't want to be a vegetable.

Indian Larry was traveling less than ten mph.

  5. We the people of the state of Washingrad voted to repeal the helmet laws. That lasted a few years, and the helmet companies backed by the state brought it back, and made it so we the people could never change it again.

    That's just plain wrong.

Being that I ride year round. I wear a half bucket when its not raining/snowing, and a scorpion full face when its not.

When you get ran down, it don't matter what you are wearing

2 ton of steel wins every time.

  6. I wear a helmet every time I get on my bike.  I have a mid-sized and and heavy cruiser. My state does not require it, but I think wearing a helmet is a good idea.

    I am anti-helmet law.

  7. I believe it should be the riders choice.  I live in RI and only the passenger has to wear a helmet - what the h**l kind of sense does that make?  Maybe anyone under 18 or 21, with little to no experience should, but everyone else should have a choice.  The helmet I am forced to wear (beanie)  will not save my life - that I can tell you.

Note:  I had an approved DOT helmet tied to the back of the bike while in NH and it fell off and smashed to pieces, so no lectures on NON DOT helmets.

  8. when your in the military u n have too wear a helmet it dose not matter what the state law is. I don't like being told to where one. I met guys who are still alive because of a helmet I some cases I would think dead is better I don't ever want to be one of those guys who are told your lucking to be alive and stuck in a bed for the rest of my days

I had a bro who always used a helmet he went down in a parking lot when a lady backed in to him. all he hurt was his hand. He later die from a blood clot from his hand injury allot of good it did him.

I will give all or I will give nothing at all In what I do.

there is no tragedy in dieing, doing what you love or for what you love. To live In fear is not to Live.

  9. it's the law coast to coast in canada so i have no choice but to wear it, but when i hit the us i still keep it on beacue i had to have it along for part of my trip anyways, and it's easier stored on my melon than anyplace else.

i wear a beanie most of the time and have a full faced modular helmet i use if the weather looks or is bad, and sometimes wear my full face if i'm going more than 300 miles or so.

always wear leathers if i'm hitting the highway, and throw my tbar bag on with them in it if it might rain so i get home dry

i ride an 01 xl1200, but have experience on many different bikes

and i won't wear my beanie on a crotch rocket.... can't have anyone recongnising me on a squiddie mobile

  10. its the law in blighty, and even if it wasn't I would always wear one when riding

  12. In California, you must wear a helmet.  It must cover the 'brain'  (you dont need a full face helmet).

I have two bikes.  A honda shadow which is a cruiser bike and an old MT250 street/dirt bike.  On the latter bike, up in the mountains on dirt roads, the helmet comes off and I can enjoy the wind (in my hair and the bugs in my teeth -grin)  but in town, on the cruiser, the helmet is always on.

    .

  13. i wear my helmet on MOST rides...

if i don't have my helmet on, i don't cross the 40 mph barrier, and i don't take unfamiliar roads, or even ride at night...

if i'm just running around town, on a nice clear day with little traffic, i MIGHT pass on the helmet...

I ride an '01 CBR1100XX with a akra full exhaust, power commander, and zero gravity screen, in glory red...SOO hot

  14. No helmet law in NM, however, I always wear one.  When it's cold I wear an HJC full-face.  Otherwise, I wear a Fulmer half-helmet.  I ride a 2000 Honda Shadow ACE 750.

I love the half-helmet.  You can see and hear better.  It's definitely a compromise though.  If you do a face-plant, you'll be wishing you were wearing the full-face helmet.

  15. I live in Texas no helmet law. But I always wear a helmet. It is just the right thing to do.

  16. i wear a full face HJC always. I'll admit it feels really good to ride without a helmet but it's not worth the risk. It's like unprotected s*x with a stranger. It feels really good to ride without a helmet but it's not worth the risk. LOL

You don't know what today's ride has in store for you.

  17. I wear a helmet. If I didn't I wouldn't be here to answer this question. I would have died in 1975 or 1987 or 2001. Anyone of those crashes would have killed me if I hadn't been wearing a helmet.

I live in Ohio where there is no helmet law.

I ride a Harley Sportster, A Harley Fat Boy, a Buell S3T , A Suzuki V-Strom and I'm looking to buy an old SPSuzuki or a DR. And I'll wear a helmet with that too.

  18. I have a Harley Sportster 1200 low.  I have been riding my bike for 5 years now and never wore a helmet, until this year.  Lately I have experienced near hits and alot of crummy drivers out there pulling out in front of me.    There has also been a huge increase in bikers lately do to the gas prices, and most of them have no experience at all.  I just feel safer on the road right now with a helmet on.

  19. I'm with YZF---always wear your helmets.

  20. i ride a Suzuki Hayabusa

Always wear a helmet... it's the law, and riding this bike without one would be craaaazy

  21. No I don't wear a helmet unless I'm in a state that big brother makes me wear one. I ride an 08 Street Glide.

  22. I have a Kawasaki ZX12R. I like to ride without my helmet when it is nice out. I live in Wisconsin and we dont have a helmet law here.

  23. I use my helment always. And in New York State it's the law.

  24. Dude, you seem kinda young so let me break this down for ya. Wear yer fricken helmet at all times! When yer old enough to sit your kids/grandkids on yer knee, you'll be glad you did! (Otherwise, you might not make it!) Ride safe bro!

  25. Scorpion EXO 1000, look at the features it offers.

My dad's friend hit a tree, the whole jaw area of his full face helmet was smashed in. What would of happened if it has a half helmet or no helmet? DEAD

I like having my jaw and face. Do you?

    LMAO YZF750R WTF scroll down

WHY DO PPL ALWAYS GIVE ME BAD RATINGS??!

My friend's friends dads a fire figher, he said that half helmets just keep the brains in one spot at the scene of an accident...thats all their good for.

  26. helmets are optional in my state (Idaho). When my wife and I ride together, we wear 1/2 helmets. When I ride alone, if on the highway or freeway, I wear a half helmet most of the time. Around town, in light traffic, sometimes I do, sometimes not. When we go on trips, we wear 3/4 helmets plugged into the bike for intercom/stereo/cb use. I prefer not to wear one as the give me a headache, but when the little voice says "hey, wear a helmet today", I wear one. In 42 years of riding, I have been knocked off em a couple of times. Helmets played a big part in keeping me alive.

    ride safe

  27. Always wear a Helmet. I have gone down Twice in 26 Years and Serious damage would have resulted without One.

  28. I always do! Seen too many close calls not to wear one ;)

  29. Yes I wear a helmet. In VA it's the law, a great law. Imagine throwing a small watermelon out of you car window going 65mph on the interstate with no protection around it. That could be your head. Check for motorcycle related crashes in your search engine, you'll wear one I gaurantee it after you see the footage. Sometimes they save lives and other times not. It depends on the maturity of the driver and how they ride and making sure you know what's going on around you at all times. You won't be the only one on the road. But remember not all crashes are the drivers fault. Yes I wear mine if I'm going riding or just down the road a min. or two just to see a friend. Not a pro, but I protect myself regardless.

    86' Suzuki GS

  30. I ALWAYS wear a full face ICON helmet.

*It's the law here in CA

*I like having intact brains, face, etc.

**It gets to be about 100+degrees on some of my commutes.

**If it's too hot to wear my gear (helmet, jacket w./CE armor, gloves w./carbon fiber knuckle protection, etc.), then it's too hot to be on my ride ...

    (;=]
