  1. Depends on whether you mean Vancouver, British Columbia or Vancouver Washington.  If you're leaving from BC it takes about 9 1/2 hours; if Washington it takes 13 1/2 hours. For the best route go to

    http://maps.google.ca

and type in your location in box A and your destination in box B.

  2. I would recommend not taking the Coquihalla if you're looking for an interesting trip.  The other way is much more scenic and has a lot of history.  I just travelled this route through the Fraser Canyon in July with my husband who is from Pennsylvania.  I grew up in BC and driven this route several times over the years, but it was his first time travelling this way past Hope.  He loved it!  We stopped several places along the way to see attractions or just simply take in the scenery and take photos.

We used a few different websites to check for things to do and places to stop but here are a couple to get you started:

  3. Trans Canada Highway (#1) to Hope, Highway 5 (Coquihalla) to Merritt, Highway 8 to Ashcroft, Highway 1 to Cache Creek, Highway 97 to Prince George. Alternatively, Highway 99 to Pemberton, on to Lilloett, Highway 12 to Lytton, Highway 1 to Cache Creek, Highway 97 to Prince George

  4. They all want you to take the toll highway (#5) ... don't,  it doesn't save you any time... take the #1 to hope then follow the 97 all the way up..

    easy peasy

    approx 9-10 hrs

  5. Take the Number 1 East to Hope, then either the scenic/slower 97 North or the 5 COQUIHALLA with the Toll Booth.  It is about 9 or 10 hours.
