  1. Sicknote is right- depends on engine size. If you believe the PR the government puts out about this you are wrong. Lots of people will end up paying more. If you have a 2 litre engine or more and a pre 2001 car it is time to have a serious look at what you have to pay.

  2. HOW MUCH WILL ASTRA 1-6 V REG  5 DOOR GO UP

  3. I bet Gordon (The Undecided) Brown doesn't know the answer to that question yet. He will Dilly and Dally

make ,U Turns, and then blame the public (because they don't understand.

Now the G8 Summit is over, he will get back to blaming Global Everything, for New Labours troubles.

  4. For Cars first registered before 1 March 2001.

If your car was first registered prior to 1 March 2001, the Vehicle Excise Duty you will pay will depend on the cars engine size. Please follow this link to the Motoring section of the DirectGov website: http://www.direct.gov.uk/Motoring/Owning...

  5. The proposed huge increases will be backdated to 2001 vehicles which were in the graduated emissions scheme from new.  Pre-2001 cars are (so far as we know at the moment) to remain in the same two-tier system which is in use at the moment.  These rates are current £185 for engines over 1549 c.c. or £120 if below.   These rates should increase only by the usual small annual amounts of £5 or so.

Pre-1973 cars are tax exempt, of course.

  6. If your car is pre 2001 then the price rise will only be slight.

  7. Cars registered before March 2001 will only increase in line with inflation (rounded up to nearest £5)
