Roadhouses in Australia?

I know I have asked a similar question before. I am going to be driving from Darwin to Perth via Broome and down the west coast. I drive a 2007 mitsubishi lancer sedan and am worried about running out of fuel.

Does anyone know WHERE the roadhouses are located along Great Northern Hwy in Western Australia?

Obviously being hot as well I will be using the air con a fair bit which will affect fuel usage.

  1. Get a steel jerry can and a suitable funnel.  The half size one will probably do, it's good insurance.  One got me and a friend out of bother some years ago in outback Qld.  Your car is near new so should not use much oil but check the dipstick every stop.  A litre bottle of oil is a good idea, also several litres of water.

  2. Lots of people do the drive without running out of fuel.  Be sensible, fill up whenever you can regardless of cost (and it will cost) and you will be OK.

  3. I have already told you the longest stretch without a fuel stop is about 250km and that is Halls Ck to Fitzroy Crossing. Your car should be able to do 500km per tankful easily which means if you fill up regularly, you will never be more than half empty. It is bitumen all the way with plenty of regular roadhouses. Don't worry, you won't have any problems with fuel supply. The air conditioning won't cause any fuel problems.

  4. Use the Air conditioner,it will hardly make a difference and you will be glad you did.Don't  drive to fast that will also save petrol.

There are thousands of people travel that way and you will not have a problem,Just have a great time!

  5. Port Hedland, Roebourne, Karratha, Fortescue, Nannutarra,

Minilya, Carnarvon, Wooramel, Overlander, Billabong, Northampton, Geraldton, Dongara, Half Way Mill Road house, Cataby, Bindoon, Chittering, ...... almost there.

This is only from Port Hedland south.  You should be right.
