  1. Undoubtedly. Well, I haven't reads very many short stories, but how can anyone compete with Roald Dahl?!

  2. It's entirely subjective.

Personally I find Anton Chekhov and James Joyce to be far superior. Ronald Dahl is a more of a children's story writer.

My favorite short story is 'The Dead' by James Joyce.

Chekhov's 'Rothschild's Fiddle' is my second favorite.

In fact Anton Chekhov is considered to be one of the best short story writers in world literature.

    Why the thumbs down?

  3. Best children's author, I would say.

  4. I'm not that fond of his stories myself.

My favourite short story writer is probably P.G. Wodehouse.

  5. I think his shorts stories are good and they aren't all for children. I read a lot of short stories by all different people and my favorite short story writer is Alexi Sayle.

My favorite ever short story is Survivor Type by Stephen King. Its quite gruesome!

  6. I have to agree with Anton Chekhov, his stories are so well written. As a children's author I would agree he is one of the best but I prefer Lewis Carol.

My favorite short story is St. John's Eve by Nikolai Gogol.

My favorite living author is Jhumpa Lahiri.

  7. No, I think Stephen King's short stories are better. My favorite story: everything in his novel "Skeleton Crew".

  8. Definitely best YA or children's short story writer.

Gotta go with Chekov for best overall, though.

  9. He's the best children's writer, in my opinion. pretty spectacular. Dahl and Blake were a dream team in children's literature.
