Rob Burrow celebrates a decade with Leeds Rhinos - Rugby League News
Leeds Rhinos half-back and hooker, Rob Burrow, is all set to celebrate the end of his triumphant decade with Leeds Rhinos, which also happens to be the only club with whom the player has ever played. The player supports a very illustrious record at the club,
which is studded with many feats.
The player will take on the Championship champions, Featherstone Rovers, in January 2012 stretching his stay at Leeds into the next decade. So far in his ten-year stint at the club, the Rhinos’ legend has played a total 279 games in which he managed to run
115 tries and the equal number of goals for his side. He has a total of 5 field goals to his credit, where he gained 595 points.
On the international level, the player has represented England and Great Britain. His association with England dates back to 2003 and the player continues to play for them to date. During this long term association with the English side, the player has played
a total of 6 games and scored four tries. He also booted a total of 9 goals for his side, which contributed a total of 34 points for his side.
The player’s international rugby league career also featured him for the Great Britain which spanned from 2005 to 2007. During this time, Burrow played five games and scored four tries. He also booted nine goals, which brought them to the same number of
points earned at the club.
During his elaborate spell with Rhinos, the 29-year-old player amassed quite a few honours for himself. He was also recognised as the first player in Super League history to win the Harry Sunderland Award twice as Man of the Match. This honour was given
to him for his on field brilliance in the Grand Final win over St Helens.
While talking to the media, Burrow shared that he is looking forward to his next lined up match at Headingley Carnegie. He said, “I am delighted to be playing Featherstone and I would really like to thank Mark Campbell and Daryl Powell for agreeing to come
to Headingley Carnegie and playing the Rhinos. I owe a special thank you to the Leeds Rhinos directors and our coach, Brian McDermott, who have agreed to the game as part of our pre-season preparations.”
It will be interesting to see how well Burrow initiates his next decade with Rhinos.
