Rob Burrow says Leeds Rhinos should focus on their League games
Rob Burrow of the Leeds Rhinos says that lessons need to be learnt from their 18-28 loss against the Wigan Warriors in the final showdown of the Challenge Cup on August 27, at Headingley Stadium in Wembley. He also added the insights gained should be incorporated
by the squad into future games. Burrow then added that the Rhinos should be focusing on their next Super League fixtures, which are scheduled to take place on September 2, against the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
While speaking about the remaining league fixtures which are left, Burrow stated, "We've got two games in the League left and that's all we can focus on. But we'll take a lot from this. We can kick on for the league. That's all that's left now."
Burrow was also considered in the running for the Lance Todd Trophy in the Challenge Cup’s final against the Wigans. He was the closet to Jeff Lima, who was awarded the Man-of-the-Match title for his famous two tries.
Burrow admitted that the Rhinos had taken off to a very slow start for which they had to pay the price. He went to say that as long as the results are not favourable, it hardly matters how brilliantly your outfit fights back.
Burrows added, “Going 16-0 down against Wigan means you're chasing your backs. But we showed a lot of character and we can take a lot from that.”
Burrow, who was taken on-board for Saturday night’s clash, was part of the bench-squad and remained off-field until half-way through the first-half of the final showdown.
While speaking about the Wembley showdown, Burrow added, “It should definitely have been our ball – if in doubt, just go to the screen (video referee) on it. But you have to get on with those things. There’s no excuses, you have to defend and it was a soft
try after that.”
The way Leeds fought their way back from the 16-0 lead of the Warriors shows their character and quality as a team.
