Rob Greenwood confirmed as interim head coach of British Gas ITC
The British Swimming National Performance Director Michael Scott has confirmed that Rob Greenwood will assume the charge of British Gas Intensive Training Centre in Stirling as an interim head coach till September 2012.
His role as interim head coach will be different from his previous role as assistant head coach. He will be responsible for major changes and developments in the training centre.
However, British Swimming National Performance Director Michael Scott also said that the appointment was a good step for the British Swimming.
The ultimate role of Rob Greenwood will be dynamic, as he will be responsible for overall conversions to the integrated programmes at the University of Stirling.
Most importantly, it will be the partnership between Rob Greenwood and Stirling Performance Squad head coach Ian Wright. The purpose of the collaboration is to ensure flawless working of the ITC programme.
Scott said that it was their joint objective to continuously  provide a world class daily training environment for Brithsh athletes to develop and flourish, and both the British Swimming and Scottish Swimming would keep on working towards the aim..
“I look forward to working with Rob and Ian as we continue to develop the British Gas ITC to provide our swimmers with a stable and performance-driven programme,” he added.
Earlier, Greenwood played a critical role in the overall laurels of the Gallica Swimming Club in Lancashire. He was very thrilled and amused by hearing his announcement as a head coach to lead the British Gas ITC.  
Greenwood observed that there were a number of competitive, resilient and professional swimmers at the British Gas ITC. He also said that they were going to bring forth some new talents in the British Swimming team.
Furthermore, Rob Greenwood stated, “No doubt, it is a very critical moment not only for me but also for Ian. We will definitely put our best efforts and potentials in improving the standards and goals of British swimming. We cannot certainly overlook the
emphatic role and contributions of British Swimming, the University of Stirling, Scottish Swimming and of the Sport Scotland Institute of Sport.”
In short, the appointment of Rob Greenwood has certainly attracted attention of the British swimmers and its lovers.
Earlier, the British Swimming announced Doug Frost was to stand down as head coach of the British Gas ITC in Stirling.
Frost was appointed in October 2008 as the head coach. His personal matter is stated behind his leaving the post. He may resume coaching in his native Australia.
