Rob Jansen: I’m optimistic about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998 moving to AS Roma – Dutch Eredivisie news
Rob Jansen, Maarten Stekelenburg’s agent, is optimistic that his client’s move to AS Roma would materialise in few days time. Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper has remained linked with the Giallorossi since the 2010/11 season ended and now it seems likely that the
gloves man would be pursuing his career in the new surroundings of Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Earlier this week, Reports in Italian media suggested that the Italian Serie A outfit have reached an agreement with the Amsterdam giants over the transfer of the Dutch International. However, the Amsterdammers technical manager, Danny Blind, denied the
Italian reports and indicated that the deal is still far from complete.
Jansen, however, believes that La Maggica would be tabling an improved bid to acquire Stekelenburg’s signature in the ongoing summer transfer market and admits that he is optimistic about the deal.
“I am left with a very good feeling after the past couple of days. It's clear that Roma are willing to go far to sign Maarten ahead of the new season. Roma had to think about Ajax's demands for a while. I hope and expect that the new bid offers Ajax the
guarantees they were after”, Jansen said.
The highly-rated goalkeeper’s agent went on to reveal that the deal should be completed at the earliest as the transfer gossips tend to irritate a player.
“It will be a big relief for Maarten once the transfer is a done deal. It's never easy for a player when you don't know what's going to happen. You're always doing your utmost and try to focus on your current club, but you can't help thinking about other
options, too. That's why it would be good if the deal is completed shortly”, Jansen concluded while talking to the media.
Stekelenburg’s current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2012 and the Dutch champions are looking to cash-in on the goalkeeper. Reports suggest that an offer in the region of 8 million Euros would be enough to lure the shot-stopper away from Amsterdam
Arena.
