Rob Key quits Kent’s captaincy – Cricket News Update
Former England batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robin-James-Boyd-Moss-c86323 Key, on Monday stepped down as Kent captain, ending seven seasons at the helm that had made him the longest serving skipper on the contemporary county circuit.
The 33-year-old right-handed batsman had taken over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783.
His captaincy record in the LV = County Championship is not quite impressive, as he leaves the county in the second tier. After inheriting the team with a Division One status, he kept them there until they were relegated in 2008. Though they managed to regain Division One status at the earliest opportunity, they could not defend that and faced a relegation the next year, and have been in the second tier over the last two seasons.
This year Kent ended the LV = County Championship Division Two as the third best side, trailing the promoted sides by 24 points. They also finished the 2012 Clydesdale Bank 40 competition as the third-best in their group.
All-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, said that it was a great honour for him to be appointed as the club’s captain. He also wished his predecessor best of luck for his future endeavours.
"Having come through the Kent system, it is with great pride I take on this challenge," said Tredwell while speaking to media reporters after his appointment as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802’s captain.
"I would like to pass on my best wishes to Rob, being under his leadership on a personal note has taken my game forward and been a pleasure to play for. To fill his http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Peter-Hewitt-c66001 will be a tough job as he is tactically, in my opinion, second to none. I see this opportunity as the next step in my career, and am really excited with the chance to tackle this challenge," he added further.
