Rob Quiney calm over Test axe – Cricket News Update
Despite being used as bait in the recently concluded Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rob-Quiney-c2340, said that his axe was simply down to his failures with the bat.
Quiney was given the nod ahead of other Test hopefuls, notably http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 was unable to prove his fitness with the ball.
The Victorian left-hander’s stacks rose after an impressive 12 months in the domestic circuit, which were followed by a strong outing in the warm-up game against the touring contingent. However, things hardly went to plan when the eventually series kicked-off.
In the opening Test, Quiney made nine, and followed that up with a pair at Adelaide. That forced the management to exclude him for the final clash at Perth, and further omit him from the current series against Sri Lanka. Hughes got the nod instead, where national selection panel head, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-John-Inverarity-c85980,  revealed that they did not wanted to expose the batter against the Proteas attack, which is considered one of the best in the business.
However, Inverarity, was keen to praise Quiney as a wonderful man, and backed him to come back strongly. That thought seems unlikely for now after Hughes scored an impressive half-century on his return during the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka.
Despite being thrown out in the wild, Quiney accepted his fate with grace, and was not looking to blame the circumstances for his own failures.
"All I know is I got a chance to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, anyone, it was Test match cricket. I got a go and if I had made the most of it we wouldn't be having this conversation."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rogers-c1249, another Australian player who suffered a similar axe after featuring for only one Test in 2008, said that Quiney was too good a player to only play domestic cricket.
“I'm massively disappointed for Bob,” Rogers said. “I've stood up the other end from him and know how good a player he is, and I don't think a lot of people do.”
