"Can I imagine myself ending up on the bench? No, of course not. And it won't be happening," Robben was quoted as saying in an interview.
The bench role is unacceptable and unimaginable for the Dutch player. The creative midfielder is confident about his abilities and is not going to take his first-team role for granted. Therefore, the 28-year-old is not distressed
by the healthy competition for places in the team.
"I have not even thought about such a scenario. I know what I'm capable of and I don't have any fear that I might lose my starting berth,” Robben added.
Moreover, the German footballer for the year 2010 claimed that no player in the squad is guaranteed a starting role. Hence, everybody needs to perform and earn a spot in the line-up.
"However, nobody is a guaranteed starter. We all have to work and fight for our place,” he concluded.
